What On Earth Is Musical RPM?
As you probably know, with normal AdSense RPM (revenue per 1000 views), YouTube receives money from advertisers whenever ads are shown between videos. This is put into a pool, which is shared with creators whose shorts were shown.
What is less commonly known is that there is another pool. This is a pool of royalties to be paid to labels and media companies (like us) whose copyrighted music was used in shorts.
So if you use our music on your videos, we make money, which we can then share with you.
We do this using two different payout models.
Our Payout Models
Sponsorship — Fast Cash, No Waiting
Perfect for creators who need quick cash to keep creating.
- Payment amount decided up-front
- Payment in as little as 7 days of uploading a qualified video
- No waiting for YouTube revenue cycles (of up to 90+ days)
- We review your channel and offer a one-time payout based on projected performance
- You keep creating — we take all the risk
Because we front the payout, total earnings may be lower than revenue share, but this is ideal if you’re building momentum and need fast funding to grow.
Revenue Share — Earn for the Long Run
Best for creators who want to maximize long-term income.
- Lifetime revenue share from YouTube payouts
- Earn based on actual performance of your Shorts
- Typical RPMs range from $0.05–$0.20 depending on audience
- Payments are made on a Net-90 schedule
- The better your Shorts perform, the more you earn—forever
Perfect if you’re monetized and want additional scalable, recurring income from the same videos.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Musical RPM?
Musical RPM helps YouTube Shorts creators monetize their videos by using our exclusive, copyright-safe music. We offer two flexible earning models: the Sponsorship model (upfront payment) and the Revenue Share model (lifetime royalties). You choose how you earn.
How do I get started?
Just apply by filling out the Application Form. We don’t require a minimum number of views—creators of all sizes are welcome.
Do I need to be in the YouTube Partnership Program?
No. You can get signed up and start earning on a brand new YouTube account. This is completely separate to YouTube’s normal AdSense system – The two do not affect each other.
Will this affect my AdSense earnings?
No. This is completely separate to YouTube’s normal AdSense system – The two do not affect each other. It’s literally just extra money, increasing your effective RPM.
What's the difference between the Sponsorship and Revenue Share models?
Sponsorship: Get an upfront payment within 7 days of uploading a qualified Short. We assess your past performance and take on all the risk. This makes this model less profitable, but it can be useful if you need the cash sooner.
Revenue Share: Earn a lifetime share of YouTube’s revenue on your Shorts using our music. Payouts follow a Net-90 schedule.
One gets you paid faster, the other can earn you more over time.
Do I qualify for the Sponsorship model?
We manually review each application for the Sponsorship model. Your eligibility is based on your channel’s content, consistency, and typical video performance—not just subscriber count or total views. Some brand new channels can still qualify for this model, but it is decided on a case by case basis.
Is your music safe to monetize?
Absolutely. Every track in our library is fully licensed and copyright compliant. You’ll never face takedowns or copyright strikes for using our music.
Can I use other music in the same video?
No, you must only a track from the Musical RPM library is clearly featured in the Short. We recommend a minimum volume of 15% and length of 35 seconds in order for YouTube to pay out royalties.
How much can I earn with the Revenue Share model?
Most creators can earn between $0.05 and $0.20 RPM, depending on how well the video performs, and the location of their audience. There’s no cap—you’ll keep earning as long as the Short gets views. This depends heavily on your Shorts audience, with YouTube paying more for countries like The USA, the UK, Canada and Australia, and more for working age adults.
When do I get paid?
Sponsorship: Payments can be made in as little as 7 days after a qualified upload.
Revenue Share: Paid on a Net-90 basis, based on actual revenue received from YouTube.
How will I receive my payments?
We support PayPal and wire transfers. Choose your preferred method during setup.
Is this only for YouTube Shorts?
Right now, yes, as it’s based on YouTube’s Shorts royalty system. We earn royalties when our exclusive music is played on YouTube Shorts, and we split the royalties with you.
